Crucial Confrontations presented by David Nelson of VitalSmarts

A crucial confrontation is a face-to-face interaction in which we hold another person accountable for a broken promise, a violated expectation, or bad behavior. Accountability issues such as lagging performance, quality, and low morale can keep you from getting the results you need. Crucial Confrontations presents a straightforward step-by-step process for identifying and resolving performance gaps, strengthening accountability, eliminating inconsistency, and reducing resentment.

In this presentation, you will learn the skills crucial to turning every disappointment or broken promise into an opportunity for enhancing accountability, improving performance, and ensuring execution.

    1.    How can you hold others accountable to commitments?

    2.    How can you get to the root cause of accountability problems?

    3.    How can you address poor performance effectively?

    4.    How can you motivate others without using power?

If you are responsible for developing talent in your organization, you will come away from this presentation with many techniques you can easily apply.

    • Webinar

    Program Description:

Attend this session to hear how the learning profession defines Web 3.0 and how it envisions the incorporation of these technologies into the learning function. You’ll learn about the degree to which high-performing organizations have already adopted Web 2.0 technologies into the learning function, their plans for Web 3.0 technologies, and how this is likely to play out in the future. The speaker will focus on three key components: the mobile web, the semantic or “smart” web, and the immersive web, or “Immernet.” Learn how the L&D community views these components, the degree to which they have already adopted the components, and their future plans for adoption. You’ll also see data on the differences between high- and low-performing organizations in terms of an approach to Web 3.0 for creating excellent learning environments.

    • Monday, May 21, 2012
    • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
    • Webinar

    Program Description:

Most novice webinar presenters report that they are uncomfortable with virtual delivery because they:

    • No longer have eye contact with learners
    • Can't read facial expressions
    • Have difficulty receiving feedback from their participants
    • Lapse into one-way communication, despite their good intentions
    • Feel like they're giving a speech in a closet
    • Believe that their students are madly multi-taking

Without the tools or skills to cross the chasm, novice facilitators find it difficult to achieve high-performance in the virtual arena. If you believe that the virtual classroom can be as exciting, meaningful, and relevant as the face-to-face classroom, then join Cynthia Clay, President/CEO, NetSpeed Learning Solutions, and author of Great Webinars: How to Create Interactive Learning that is Captivating, Informative, and Fun at this practical and inspiring webinar.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Avoid the 3 most common errors that make webinars dull
    • Apply 5 techniques to transform your virtual classroom
    • Adopt 3 practices to reduce the impact of technology snafus
